The 2022 Kia Soul Carries the Spirit of the Road

In the years since the Kia Soul made its boxy debut in 2008, it’s continuously improved inside and out while staying true to its form as a fun, youthful compact SUV. For 2022, Kia has refreshed the Soul in a few small, but noticeable ways. Since it’s coming to Seiner Kia South Jordan very soon, let’s take a look at what you can expect from the 2022 Kia Soul.

Six Trim Levels for Any Budget

The 2022 Soul comes in six separate trim levels ranging in MSRP from sub-$20,000 prices to a respectable, but still-affordable, $27,790.

• 2022 Kia Soul LX: $19,190 starting MSRP
• 2022 Kia Soul S: $21,490 starting MSRP
• 2022 Kia Soul GT-Line: $22,590 starting MSRP
• 2022 Kia Soul X-Line: $22,590 starting MSRP
• 2022 Kia Soul EX: $23,490 starting MSRP
• 2022 Kia Soul Turbo: $27,790 starting MSRP

Every trim except for the Soul Turbo comes with Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission, which continuously and smoothly adjusts the gear ratio to provide excellent torque when you need it and speed when you don’t. If you prefer a more traditional clutched transmission, the 2022 Soul Turbo comes with a 7-Speed Dual-Clutch, which enables fast shifting at each gear ratio to better power the wheels. Kia no longer offers a Soul with a manual transmission.

Other benefits of higher Soul trim levels include nicer wheels, more upscale interiors, 

and a 1.6L Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) 16-valve in-line 4-cylinder engine with Turbocharger in the Turbo, thus its name. The other Souls carry a perfectly powerful 2.0L DOHC in-line 4-cylinder without the Turbocharger. That means that while the standard Soul can pull up to 147 hp with 132 lb-ft of torque, the Turbo cranks it up to 201 hp max with 195 lb-ft. If you want to roar, go for the Turbo.

Interior Upgrades Across the Line

The 2022 Kia Soul has been updated inside as well, with new active safety features like blind-spot monitoring and collision warning, cross-traffic collision avoidance, and more. The base LX trim also has an upgraded 8-inch infotainment screen for even more rocking out.

The higher trim levels get an even bigger screen, 10.25 inches across, standard. They also contain dual automatic climate control, a push-button start, a wireless smartphone charger, and two USB ports for your other devices.

All Souls can seat up to five passengers comfortably, with more passenger room than a Toyota RAV4. If it’s stuff you need to carry, the rear seats fold down for a massive 62 cubic feet of cargo space, which is plenty for instruments, suitcases, camping gear, or whatever you may need. And with the Soul’s Iso-Structure™ construction, you and your stuff will stay safe in a crash.
